The Birambie or also called blimbing is a family of the star fruit that are in stores here in the Netherlands under the name Carabola's. This fruit is approximately 8 cm long and has a green-yellow slightly translucent color. A big difference with the carambola is that it is slightly sweet and the Blimbing has a sour smell and taste. The fruit grows on trees and is found in Thailand, Indonesia, Suriname and Sri Langka, among others. The fruit is often used in chutney, rice dishes and fish dishes.
