Sinantulan Santol with coconut milk Original

Sinantulan Santol is also known as ginataang santol or Sinantolan. This Filipino dish is traditionally made with chopped santol (cotton fruit). First, the santol fruit is peeled and the seeds are removed. The peel is washed and finely chopped or grated into very small pieces. The juices from the grated peel are squeezed out to minimize the sour taste. Garlic and onion are then pan-fried for a few minutes, along with the optional meat (ground or diced) or seafood. The santol husk is then added and cooked for a few minutes before pouring coconut cream (kakang gata) into the pan and cooking until cooked through. It is seasoned with bagoong alamang, siling haba chilis and salt and pepper to taste. For a spicier version, chopped Labuyo chilis can also be added. This Sinantulan Santol from Mondragon's is ready-made and available in 2 flavours, the original and the spicy. Keep refrigerated once opened
