Fiery Labuyo Barbecue Marinade

This sauce is a variance in Mama Sita's range. If you like a spicy dish then a little Labuyo Barbecue Marinade is for you. With Labuyo you certainly achieve some tropical warmth. This sauce is made from Labuyo pepper that grows in the mountains and is also known as "Bird's Eye red hot pepper". A true Filipino culinary legend.

The History of the Bird's Eye red hot pepper

In 1521, the famous explorer Ferdinand Magellan sailed many islands in search of the "Spice Islands". As a final destination, he arrived on the warm tropical beaches of the Philippines. The natural herbs were available here in large sizes and so was the "Bird's Eye red hot pepper". A small but robust pepper, with a very sharp taste. From then on, the pepper type was nicknamed "Labuyo". In the past centuries have passed and farmers at the foot of the dangerous Mayon volcano are still legendary and perfecting the growing conditions of the Bird's Eye red hot pepper variety.

Recipe idea: Spicy Labuyo Chicken wings

• Marinate 1 kilo of chicken wings with 150 ml Labuyo Barbecue Marinade
• Grill on medium heat and sprinkle the chicken wings regularly with marinade
• Grilling until cooked

Cane sugar, water, soy sauce (soy, color: caramel, salt, water), pickled Spanish pepper, salt, garlic, modified starch, color: annatto powder, black pepper, preservative: sodium benzoate.
