Kunyit Asam

Kunyit Asam is a traditional Indonesian drink featuring the distinctive combination of turmeric (kunyit) and tamarind (asam). The earthy, lightly spiced character of turmeric is balanced by the fresh, fruity tartness of tamarind, creating a refreshing sweet-and-sour drink.

In Indonesia, Kunyit Asam is part of the traditional jamu culture. It is particularly well known as a herbal drink traditionally consumed by women, including around menstruation. Various benefits have traditionally been associated with jamu and Kunyit Asam, although these traditional uses should not be considered proven medical effects.

This instant version makes Kunyit Asam easy to prepare at home. Mix the contents of a sachet with water according to the instructions on the packaging. Depending on your preference, it can be enjoyed warm or chilled.

Preparation method:

• Dissolve 1 pack per day in 150 ml of cold or warm water. Drink right away.
• Not recommended for pregnant women.
