Sapin Sapin

Sapin Sapin is a traditional Filipino dessert made from glutinous rice and coconut milk. This dish is traditionally made with 3 flavors, the yellow layer has a light taste of jack fruit, the white layer of coconut, and the purple layer of ube. Make this delicious traditional dish easy with the Green Leaves mix. It is no longer necessary to wait for a special day or a celebration, with this mix you turn every day into a party.

1 box of Sapin Sapin mix from Green leaves contains the following:

  • 1 packet of coconut powder
  • 1 pack of violet mix
  • 1 pack of white mix
  • 1 pack of yellow mix

Necessities:

  • 1 pack of Sapin Sapin Green Leaves Mix
  • 360 ml of water

Preparation: (Stovetop)

  1. Dissolve the coconut powder in water and pour it through a sieve
  2. Divide the coconut liquid into 3 equal parts
  3. Mix color in each part and stir it smoothly
  4. Put the first layer (yellow) in a tin and steam it for about 5 minutes until it is a bit firm
  5. Put the second layer (white) on the first layer and steam it for another 5 minutes
  6. Put the third layer (violet) on the other 2 layers and steam for another 10 minutes
  7. Let the mass cool and remove them from the molds
  8. Serve with fried or roasted coconuts or shavings

Preparation: (microwave)

  1. Dissolve the coconut powder in water and pour it through a sieve
  2. Divide the coconut liquid into 3 equal parts
  3. Mix color in each part and stir it smoothly
  4. Put the first layer (yellow) in a mold and cover it with a damp paper kitchen cloth
  5. Put the microwave on 900 watts for about 2½ to 3 minutes
  6. Remove the cloth and pour the 2nd layer on it and cover it again
  7. Repeat for approximately 2½ to 3 minutes
  8. Remove the cloth and pour the 3rd layer on it and cover it again
  9. Repeat again for approximately 5 minutes
  10. Let the mass cool and remove them from the molds
  11. Serve with fried or roasted coconuts or shavings
