Ube Champorado
This is a traditional dish that is very famous in the Philippines. It is a dish made from glutinous rice, ube powder, sugar and milk. This dish is more of a lunch dish or can be served as a snack. It can be eaten both cold and hot. Often a splash of milk is added for color or thickness. The origin of this dish can be traced back to the time when the Philippines still traded with Mexico. The Mexican traders brought the dish to the Philippines. Over the years, the dish has been made more Filipino by adding rice.
Preparation method: (serves 5 bowls)
- Wash glutinous rice 3 times
- Boil 1 pack of ube champorado mix, 5 cups (1250 ml) of water and 1/3 cup (67 grams) of sugar together.
- Stir for about 10-15 minutes or until the rice is soft and sticky
- Serve while hot
*Add milk if desired
