Lychee in syrup

These fruits are the size of a walnut, with a bright rose-red scaly skin. The glassy flesh of the lychee as it is also called is firm and juicy. It has a sweet, spicy taste reminiscent of nutmeg grapes. The flesh has a brown shiny pit. lychee are rich in vitamin C. These fruits are mainly found in countries such as South Africa, Madagascar, Thailand and Israel. The skin of the fresh lychee is brittle and easy to peel. The kernel itself is not edible.
