Don Papa Rum, produced by the Bleeding Heart Rum Company, is a tribute to Papa Isio, a nearly forgotten hero of the Philippine Revolution. Don Papa, formerly an overseer of a sugar cane plantation, joined the resistance to drive the Spanish rulers from his beloved homeland.
Don Papa Rum is distilled on the Philippine island of Negros from the finest sugar cane grown on rich, volcanic soil, giving it its unique flavor. Then Don Papa Rum matures at the foot of Mount Kanlaon for over 7 years in American oak barrels. Aged for another 3 years, with the original ex-bourbon American oak barrels being re-charred resulting in a darker and bolder rum with notes of dried fruit, cocoa and a hint of oak.
