Ginataang Gulay

Ginataang Gulay also known as kalabasa sa gata, is a Philippine vegetable stew made from calabaza in coconut milk and spices. The additions can vary, but usually shrimp, long beans and possibly bagoong are used. You can also use fish, crab or a lot of shrimp instead of shrimp. This of course depends on your own wishes. In addition to these ingredients, pumpkin is one of the most important ingredients that make this dish a very well-known dish in the Philippines. As with many dishes in the Philippines, each region has its own variant or its own name for this dish. The name Ginataang gulay (vegetables in coconut milk) is usually used for the recipe that contains vegetable ingredients.

Requirements:

• 15 g frying oil
• 15 g onion, chopped
• 5 g garlic, chopped
• 750 g kalabasa (pumpkin), peeled and diced
• 75 g sitaw (long beans), cut into 2 inch long slices
• 29 g (1 pack) Knorr Ginataang Gulay Mix, dissolved in 1 cup of water
• 45 g small green peppers, sliced
• Optional: 1 cup of malunggay leaves
• 80 g shrimps, peeled

Preparation method:

1. Start by getting your pan nice and hot over medium heat. Pour in some oil and toss in the onion and garlic. Saute until the onion is soft and the garlic is golden brown.
2. Carefully add the kalabasa and sitaw and pour in the dissolved Knorr Complete Recipe Mix and siling haba. Stir well and cover until vegetables are half cooked.
3. Add the malunggay leaves and prawns and simmer until kalabasa and prawns are fully cooked. And there you have it!
4. Ginataang Gulay is the perfect accompaniment to all your favorite dishes. You can just have it as it is. Just like at home, it's a comfort dish!
