Quick N Easy Afritada Sauce

This sauce mix from the Philippines is a ready-made, carefully formulated spice blend to put a delicious afritada dish on the table in an easy way.

Afritada

Afritada is similar to Menudo, only chicken is used for this dish. Just like the Menudo, potatoes, carrots and bell pepper are added to it. Actually Afritada is the basis for Menudo, mechado and Caldereta. If you make this dish, you can use the base for all other dishes. The advantage of using the chicken in this stew is that it will give more flavor to the dish when cooked for a long time.

Recipe: Chicken afritada

Necessities:

• 1 tbsp oil
• 500 g chicken, whole, cut into pieces, seasoned with salt and pepper
• 1 cup of water
• 75 g potato, cut into pieces
• 55 g carrot cut into pieces
• 75 g peas, frozen, cooked
• 112 g red pepper, cut into strips
• 1/2 teaspoon of salt
• 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper
• 1 bag of Afritada sauce

Preparation method:

1. Brown chicken in oil, then add water and cook for 20 minutes.
2. Boil potatoes and carrots for 10 minutes, then add green peas, paprika, salt, and pepper
3. Pour Del Monte Quick n Easy afritada sauce and simmer for 5 minutes
