Rawon Boemboe

Rawon Boemboe is an authentic Indonesian spice paste used to prepare Rawon, a traditional beef soup originating from Surabaya in East Java. This distinctive dish is famous for its deep dark color and rich, aromatic flavor.

The key ingredient in Rawon is keluak (also known as kluwek), a nut-like fruit that gives the soup its unique dark appearance and characteristic taste. Combined with a blend of traditional herbs and spices, it creates a flavorful broth that is highly appreciated in Indonesian cuisine.

This spice paste makes it easy to prepare authentic Rawon while preserving the traditional flavors of the dish.

What is Rawon?

Rawon is one of Indonesia's most famous soups and is traditionally prepared with beef slowly simmered in a rich spiced broth. It is commonly served with rice and a variety of side dishes to create a complete and satisfying meal.

The distinctive flavor of keluak sets Rawon apart from other Indonesian soups and makes it one of the most iconic dishes of Javanese cuisine.
