This Rawon bumbu is a spice paste that can serve as the basis for the traditional black Indonesian beef soup. The original recipe comes from Surabaya. The traditional preparation is made on the basis of keluak (black nuts). This ingredient gives the soup a strong nutty flavor and dark color. The soup is usually served with green spring onion, shallots, rice and salted egg. Of course the prawn crackers and the sambal should not be missing.
- Fry the contents lightly brown in about 2 tablespoons of oil
- Then add to this: 4 to 5 cups of water, 500 gr of diced beef
- Simmer the whole thing with the lid closed
- When the dish is ready, sprinkle a little lemon juice over it
