This Rawon bumbu is a spice paste that can serve as the basis for the traditional black Indonesian beef soup. The original recipe comes from Surabaya. The traditional preparation is made on the basis of keluak (black nuts). This ingredient gives the soup a strong nutty flavor and dark color. The soup is usually served with green spring onion, shallots, rice and salted egg. Of course the prawn crackers and the sambal should not be missing.

Preparation method:
- Draw about 1 liter of stock from the meat
- Then remove the meat from the onion and cut it into small pieces
- Return it to the stock with the rawon paste
- Allow to cook gently for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally
- Add some salt to taste
